Reclaim space after partition deleted

Have W7 (C:) on one drive & W10 (D:) on another on a dual boot system. On the W10 D: I had another partition (E:) w/ nothing on it so used AOMEI Partition Asst to delete the E: partition & just have the entire disk as one but in Disk Management the Recovery Partition is in the middle so I can't figure out how to expand D: (or w/e) to encompass the unallocated space the whole 500GB drive (see red "X")? In AOMEI to resize partition it only shows 74GB but I could change it to 390.63GB (I guess?) or could select where it says "assign free space from (*) to (D:)" BUT there's an asterisk in both the recovery partition AND the unallocated space so have been afraid to try that. What am I missing??

You should be able to click on the main partition and "extend" volume

if that does not work then in diskpart. Tailor to suit your needs.

• list disk
• select disk 0
• list partition
• select partition 1
• extend

390 + 75(the 75gb used) = 465

A 500gb drive advertised will only be 465gb due to how bytes work and manufactures market over by rounding up. Its like $5.99 is actual $6.00 a marketing tactic used in retail to make consumers think its cheaper. I don't see an issue there.

Just extend it then? you only have 390 unallocated not 420, you can't make something from nothing.

yep, I can click "next" then "finish" & see what happens lol ...should be fine....

i know in you math it probably feels off, but windows knows what is left so as long as the value is maxed out when you click extend then it will be ok. There is arrows i always just make sure to click it to max.

it should default to max value anyway.
