    Dell E5500 DVD-CD Drive: Comes and Goes?!


    Whats up guys!

    Well, I just made the switch to Windows 7 (x64) on my Dell E5500 Laptop. Love it. Well, I'd love it even more if I could get my DVD-CD drive to work properly...

    Before I made the switch, everything was working fine ( I could burn CD/DVDs no problem. ) Now, it will read a disc when I put it in, but if I try to burn to it I get an error saying no CD-DVD Drive Detected .

    I've un-installed and re-installed the hardware, tried updating the driver ( it's up to date ) all with no luck. I noticed something weird to... If I open up my Device Manager nothing shows up for the drive, when I put a blank DVD in it shows up on the list! But after a few seconds it will vanish, and then come back, and then vanish again.

    I don't have any icons next to it in Device Manager either when it's showing up. Any ideas?

Dell back up drive full

Hi there, My dell back up (D drive) keeps popping up saying its full after installing windows 7. Any ideas why this would be? Is there anything I can delete? It has dell, perf logs, program files, sources, tools, users and windows
