Using a projector with Windows 7

    Hello,
I am absolutely new here. Not sure where to post this. My apologies if this is the wrong location.

I am in the market for Windows 7 laptop.
Main purpose is to connect to a projector to display song lyrics, video clips, movies, power point presentations and a pictorial slide show using Picasa.
Currently have one laptop with xp pro and one with xp home at this time.
Using a mechanical switch A / B switch to go back and forth between the laptops for display content to screen.
Tried using a Vista machine in conjunction with the xp home and found the Vista machine a real nuisance to use in this set up for switching between machines.

Question 1: How easily does Windows 7 work with a projector in this type of situation?

Question 2: I am using Picasa now and dragging the window over onto the projector and then click play for the slide show. Will Win 7 make it easier to get a program to display to the projector or another monitor?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

    Hi and welcome

I am not sure of win 7 functionality with an A/B switch but

1-the win key + the P key. easy as pie. for projector, tv out, anything out. Just need enough of a video card to handle it.

2- Drag and drop accross multiple monitors is almost seamless. we have users with 5 monitors and no problems

If you need more info can you give us specifics.

    thanks

Still not an elegant solution, but it works

I open Picasa. Find the folder with the pictures for the slideshow. I have added a black jpg as the first slide. Click play. It opens the slide show. Wiggle the mouse to "pause" the slideshow on the black slide. Win +P set to duplicate. Once the projector is showing the black slide I click the play button. As I want the show to end on the last slide I do not have the slideshow looped.
Could do an end slide either black jpg or an actual The End...

Would love to see Picasa add an option to choose output device as Easy Worship lets you select secondary monitor for the output.

I am now using two Windows 7 Pro machines.
