    Another second hard drive dissapearance...

    Hello!

Last night, I installed Windows 7, and when I looked both hard drives were there. Today I went to access my second drive, and it's dissapeared. I followed the instructions I found in this forum, going to the disk manager and trying to give it a drive letter, but it doesn't show up there, and not in computer manager or device manager, either.

I downloaded the software from Digital River and it did not give me the opportunity to format both drives in Windows, I assumed that it would do it if it was suppossed to. I am not trying to run dual OS's, and I have no partitions.

They are both formatted NFTS. The computer is a Systemax Venture HU2 DH805 Intel® Dual Core, one drive is 1BTO HD 801701320GB 7200RPM 3G SATA II Hard Drive, the second is 1BTO HD2 89369160GB 7200RPM 3G SATA II Hard Drive.

I apologize if this was answered. I did look, and none of the solutions I found worked.

    Thank you in advance!

Check in advanced power management to see when the OS sends a hard drive into a dormant state as this could account for the issue you're reporting...

    Hello!

Thank you for the reply. I checked, it said 20 minutes, so I changed it to never, then restarted the computer...the hard drive is still not appearing. If it had just fallen asleep, I guess it would have appeared on restart?

    Thanks again...

The drive appears in the BIOS, right?

It's showing as healthy and present in Windows disk management?

Assuming yes to these points, then now swap out the drives data cable, consider updating your chipset drivers and board BIOS, and bear in mind a custom W7 install is less buggy than an in place upgrade installation...

All I can think of beyond the point the thread has reached...
