usb extension cable or power issues?

i have a 15m usb extension cable and i need to run more than one device from it.

At the moment i can only run one thing, a mouse.

I also have a usb hub, from tescos and i was going to use it to connect multiple devices to the one usb cable/port.

I tried doing this but it although the light on the port came on none of the devices plugged in worked or showed and lights or signs at at all?? but the hub works fine when plugged into the computer with no extension.

i tried plugging in a keyboard in individually too, instead of the the mouse and it didn't work, so at the moment i can only run a mouse from that port??

I think it maybe to do with the lack of power from the one port but i am not sure. On the 4 port hub i have it does have a 5v power socket too(to allow more powerful device to run off it) but i don't have a power cable for it.

Will getting the power cable help me?

    Anyone else had this problem?

the voltage drop on a 15m cable ,running at 5v will be approx 1.1 volt why is it required to be so long ? do you not have an alternative option ?

it goes 1/2 way across my house, its 15 m alright

on amazon it said that its Certified USB 2.0,

by the way its 3 different 5m ones connected up together, this is it here

USB A male to A Female Extension Cable 5m: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

i use the 1 pc in 2 different places, that's why it has to b so long and there are no other options.

The maximum overall length of usb cable should not exceed 5 metres.

    What you need is this:
USB 2.0 Active 5m Extension Lead : USB Cabling : Maplin

is it powered in some way?

Active USB extension lead - allows a USB connection to be used over the usual 5m limit

that's all i have to go on
