lg cd.dvd writer slow in win 7

Hi all, I have an LG GH22NS50 optical drive which shows it's going to take 2 hours to transfer from a CD to the HDD which is ridiculously slow. Firmware is upgraded to 1.02 and windows says driver is up to date. IDE/ATA/Atapi in device manager is set to "enable DMA' Any help appreciated txs.
    System is new

    asus p6t
    8gb RAM
    WD 500gb HDD

First, the only drivers for optical drives is the default Microsoft drivers in Windows. There are no 3rd party drivers.

That is slow, but I've seen the Windows estimate for time to transfer data be in hours and when it actually starts and does the transfer it winds up to something much less. Have you tried doing the transfer?

Tks for your reply. I have let it run for over 20min but still it doesn't seem right. (Still showing 2 hours to go). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the cd and the ide controller. I'm lost
