It did the same thing. I can't find anything even close to biometrics or scanners in the Bios options.

I do remember the HP update program doing a bios update immediately after I installed Win 7, maybe I did get the wrong version.

I'll keep monitoring this thread for replys, but I think I'll contact HP to see what they say.

    Thanks for trying!

    SUCCESS!

I did a few more searches online, couldn't find anything that was about my exact issue, but there were several places where 'uninstall the software' seemed to work.

Looks like my first hunch was right, I used remove program in control panel to get rid of the DigitalPersona software. After rebooting all I had to do was type in my password.

Now maybe I'll check into getting rid of this crappy Windows Live Email

    Translation:

Since I had already tried disabling anything to do with biometrics in MSCONFIG, along with the DigitalPersona program itself, I'd guess that on startup Win 7 looks to see if an exe is INSTALLED that controls the fingerprint reader. If that program is found, then it assumes there is a reader and gives that option. I used the normal 'remove program' function of control panel to remove DigitalPersona and my fingerprint login prompt is gone.

I went to the "remove program" function and didn't find the DigitalPersona like you said. Am I looking in the wrong place?

If you open device manager, do you see a heading for the biometric device? If you do, just right-click and disable it.
I tried this and I couldn't right click.

don't know if you solved your problem,,,,but I accidently stumbled onto mine:
I stumbled onto the way to get rid of the finger print notification.......it really isn't getting rid of it,,,,,but suppressing it. On the icon bar at the bottom of my screen is a tiny little arrow (down on the right). I clicked on it and came up with the following screen: see attachment.

The 5th item down in the document is the finger print program notifier.......see how I set mine...."hide icon and notifications". Accidents can be good ones. You'll still see a small icon when I logon with my password, but you just ignore the finger print icon and you don't get the notification where you have to "X" it to get rid of it.
    I hope this helps you...........Martha

I had to reinstall DigitalPersona in order to get rid of an annoying logonui.exe error that kept coming up. I then uninstalled it as I was hoping that the error would not come back if it uninstalled correctly. Not I cannot log in at all. On the login screen, when I click on the user name nothing happens. I have already disabled everything I can find that has anything to do with biometrics or Digital persona. I can boot into safemode. I disabled having to enter a password. Any other ideas?
