S-Video Issues

Okay, previous to this weekend I was using XP with a Compaq and Samsung monitor at my desk. When i get into bed I use the TV and Samsung to watch anime and movies. Well now I have windows 7 and it does not seem to want to utilize the S-Video for the TV.

Here are two Photobucket images, the first of my display options through Windows and second through Nvidia control panel.

When I try to activate the TV through this option I get a message about being unable to save the display setting.

When I use Nvidia panel when I click apply for TV + Samsung it changes back to Compaq + Samsung without changing anything.

Any help would be appreciated, because I am out of ideas. If I need to use different pictures or links someone let me know please, I think I saw a post about images somewhere on here.

I have the *EXACT* same problem.

I have dual monitors. One is VGA, the other is DVI. When I uncheck the VGA box and check the box for the svideo, it looks like it will work. But when I click the button to apply the new setting, it unchecks the svideo box, and re-checks the VGA box....

VERY VERY annoying!! I'm using the RC candidate of Windows 7 with the latest nvidia drivers (downloaded them a couple of days ago).

I have about the same combo. Displays 1 and 3 are monitors, display 2 is a TV. I made a short video to show how I'm doing it, maybe it helps.

Because of the two displays limitation, you have to first disconnect one display in order to connect another. I get my rig messed up if I do it in any other order than shown on video.

EDIT: Use the Windows 7 Screen rResolution tool; at least on my rig the NVIDIA Control Panel won't do the job.

I just upgraded my hp pavilion from vista to windows 7. Connected to hdmi on our sharp flatscreen and things were fine. Connected s-video to old tv but no display, did re-start, but laptop did not restart. Now when I turn the power on nothing happens, just get a pop sound from the speaker and a black screen. When i put the Windows 7 dvd and turn power on it doesn't read this disc. I had no problems with the s-video in vista, but now my laptop doesn't work at all. Totally screwed, anyone have any suggestions?

Hey all, not a huge computer person but I read a few of these threads because I too had the s-video hook up problem.

I believe I found a solution that's easier than re installing 3 times, uninstalling, etc.

I have... or rather should say *had* NVIDIA Geforce 7 that was accessible through the control panel when I had Vista. Of course after reading some forums seeing that people were experiencing problems I tried to follow along and discovered that no where was my NVIDIA installed. Windows 7 didnt report any errors or that the drivers werent compatible and I updated right before my switch to Windows 7 so I don't know what happened to it.

My solution was as easy as going to the NVIDIA site and downloading/installing my driver again, reboot, worked. Had to mess with the NVIDIA control panel a bit (looked like I was in 400x600 or close to it until I set my laptop to be the main screen) but S-Video works!!

NVIDIA owners will probably find this solution helpful since it looks like they have a bunch of beta builds for Windows 7 users for most of their cards. They must've had some feedback because they are beta and win7 specific.

Also: I should add that before installing my driver again I did not have any options in the display panel-there was number 1, my laptop screen. After installing the NVIDIA driver, I used the NVIDIA control panel versus the windows display options. May help.
