    Bluetooth mouse doesn't work

    Hi :)
I recently bought a new laptop (ASUS K70IC) that has no Bluetooth (BT). I also bought a Bluetooth mouse with it, Genius 905BT and an USB Bluetooth dongle, I thought that would work. But it doesn't. Other Bluetooth devices show up when I search for them, but the mouse doesn't. I tried that in XP SP3 too (desktop PC) but it doesnt show up there either.
    So my questions are:
    1. Does anyone have a configuration of a BT USB dongle + BT mouse?
    2. Do you think it should work? (BT dongle + BT mouse)

Have you put your mouse into the "Discovery Mode"?

Yes, you have to hold a connect button under the mouse to make it discoverable. It doesnt show up however.

Try this, when you hold the connect button, some kind of indicator should lit up (a LED or something), HOLD that button for a loooong loooooong time, maybe it timed out before the bluetooth dongle finds it.

Maybe you should return the mouse, maybe it's defective... or... is it turned on?

Try installing the newest drivers for the USB dongle, sometimes the ones that come with the CD aren't always the newest. Newer drivers should help recognize the bluetooth device as an input/mouse device and you should get it all going

I have tried updating every device in the device manager that has the word Bluetooth in it (around 10) and none updated, and yes, it is turned on :)

This whole thread has already been posted by the OP, who said he'd found a solution to the Bluetooth issues in the original thread - so I'm curious to learn the reason for an almost identical thread reappearing...

Bluetooth is turned off by default in services.msc and no devices will work or pair until you have turned the discovery service on... but I think I've said this before...

In that thread I enabled that service and the dongle finds BT devices around it now, but for some mysterious reason it cannot find my BT mouse. I think the mouse might be broken, I am taking it back for RMA tomorrow :)
