Windows 7: Just so I understand why SATA drive

hey i dont mean to hi jack thread but, i have a similar question. i installed 2 sata drives on my dekstop, but they're showed up as ata. is this normal?

Are they working? Then it is normal.

Win7 64-bit, WinXP 32-bit

Depends whether they're running in IDE mode in bios or they are installed as AHCI drives.

If they're in AHCI mode, I'd say they should be showing up as SATA or SCSI in windows. If they're in IDE mode in bios, then yeah that's what they'll show up as in Windows too.
