    Motherboard install

    Hey,

I am new to this forum but I really need help .

So I basically just got Windows 7 Prof. Edition Yesterday and I am upgrading from Windows XP.
So my motherboard is a ASUS P5N-E SLI Graphics Integrated Motherboard, but I use my own Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT.

Basically my problem is obviously installing my motherboard. I use the CD which came with it(this is what do to reformat Windows XP) and my computer states: "Motherboard CD does not support this operating system (WNT_6.1P_32_MCE)".
I've been googling around and I still couldn't find any answers... I tried to change the way the computer runs the program through the control panel feature, but it still wont work.

Obviously you can tell that I am not very intelligent with computers with the way I just explained things , but if someone can help me I would appreciate it.

    Thanks.

    Hi, welcome to SF

Do you mean the graphics disk?
If so go to the manufacturers website, find the drivers for your particular gfx card and windows version and download latest software/drivers from there

If you did mean mobo same thing applies manufacturers website will have all latest drivers/chipset/bios for you to download and install

    Hope this helps

    Mobo install

Welcome to Windows 7 Support forum,
As I understand your issue you installed a new MOBO on a machine that has previously had Wiondows XP installed as the OS, now in conjunction with the new mobo you are installing Windows 7 onto the machine.
Some facts to take into account:
    1. Since you had a running machine with Xp your machine stored a hardware profile, that means XP recognises all hardware and stored the profile.
    2. You removed the old motherboard and installed a new mobo?
    3. You have corrupted the the hardware profile so your pc will not boot with the existing XP OS, not to worry, you can either install XP as you have a new pc, or you can install your Windows 7 onto the hard drive, Your new OS will create the new hardware profile and you are set togo.
Please fill out your system specs at the lower left of the screen for further issues don't hesitate to post.

From your friends at Windows 7 Support forum.
