making an Striped disk

how come I cant make a striped volume?

I have 2 Disks:
Model WDC WD5000AAKS-00A7B0
Model WDC WD15EADS-00R6B0

here's a pic of my Disk Manager:
http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/3383/disks.jpg

I want to create a striped volume for Page File.
when i am trying to left click on unallocated space in the first disk (dynamic disc) the option for striped disk is grayed out, when i am trying the same thing on second disk (basic disk) the options are available but the when i suppose to choose a disk to stripe the volume with it only shows me himself

i red from windows technet article that the two disks suppose to be dynamic, is that right?

should i convert the second disk to dynamic?

Overview of Disk Management

Quote:
We used to be big fans of dynamic disks.

A dynamic disk complicates the disaster recovery process, and we dislike anything that creates potential issues in a disaster recovery scenario. We definitely don't think dynamic disks are appropriate for a system disk. And we just have a hard time seeing where the upside is given the functionality that your hardware RAID controller or SAN array management application provides.

... avoid converting your system disk to dynamic.

like you can see in the print screen:

the free space i want to use in the second disk is free space from expanded partition

I think your system drive is already on a Dynamic Disk.

Might be a good idea to convert it to a Basic Disk.

Convert Dynamic Disk to Basic Disk

BEST FREE Partition Manager Software for Windows supports all 32-bit & 64 bit Windows No-server OS.

You can than move your page file to the other Basic disk if you really want to.

Stripped raid? NO, I do not think so.

Raid arrays really need to be 2 disks of the same size. (partitioned however you like)
So as they are the same size and speed.

using different sizes will result in a raid of the smallest drive size x2
I/e a 1000GB drive and a 250GB drive will result in a 500GB raid with 750GB unallocated on the 1TB drive.

I do not think you can have 2 drives of different sizes & partitions, with a RAID stripe at the end

please correct me if i am mis-understanding, but this is how i always understood it.

If the purpose is to move the pagefile, why not just move it to your second disk?

No,
here's a Print Screen of Striped Partition On Different Sized Disks (This is a Virtual Machine Of Win Server 2003):

But I Still, Don't Understand What is the issue of having a System Partition on a Dynamic Disk?

making a striped disk suppose to be much faster than just moving the Page File to different disk
What i have now is two disks and an Operation System on each one of them.

the one with XP is a Dynamic Disk
the one with windows 7 is on Basic
