Touchscreen Monitors for Win7?

You know, I've been well impressed over this last week of running Windows 7 that I've treated myself to a new large computer desk, a new case (Antec Skeleton) and a nice set of Creative speakers. Now it suddenly occured to me that Microsoft was bragging recently about the touchscreen abilities of Windows 7, and now I'm thinking "where can I get a touchscreen Monitor from, here in the UK?". Hey, I'm a geek!!

Looked on feebay, but they are limited as to what's on offer.

Any suggestions?

actually there are touch monitors but they arent cheap...
also if you search here i remember someone who had the same question which was about a touchscreen kit (without the monitor you have to supply that...)
to which i replied to...
for multi-touch there is no way your gonna find at a good price (you should might as well buy the multi touch tablet and you'll be saving money)..

edit found you one but its pretty expensive...

also you might have to look for international vendors such as newegg...

if not then here Displays

Our Fire Dispatch center tried touch screens for awhile, and then switched back within the year.
Touch screens get filthy fast and the constant cleaning required was tough on the monitors and scratched them eventually, even with the greatest of care. And they also found that repeated use of certain areas made them fail as the tiny wires embedded into the monitors (touch sensors) would break after repeated use. There are issues with touch screens.
Some of these may be getting better, but considering the price you pay for these things and the issues you "could" have, personally I'm waiting for the technology to improve immensely and the prices to drop likewise, before I will even consider one.

Plus another thing our dispatchers found was that being so close to the screen all the time made their eyes very heavy, blurred their vision horribly and gave them headaches too. Remember how close you have to be to the screen to touch it, try that with your current monitor and see if it's something you can do repeatedly before thinking about this.

Wow! Thanks for all your responses guys. Nice one.
It's not really a 'must have' is it? You've certainly made me think twice now. Put right off! Think I'll give at a few years.

Everytingh depend of the touch technologie on the screen.
Something like MS Surface can't have this issues because there is no touch sensor.
Today there's many way to make a screen "touchable"...

Always you know before selecting Kiosk manufacturer's ( Get to know the Kiosk manufacturer’s products and have a good look at their website to see what kiosk product designs they currently have on offer. If they have a few kiosk models and numerous kiosk software applications, this is a good indication that they have been producing kiosks for a while and have gained experience of how to design a robust and serviceable kiosk. )

A bit more, I use an HP Compaq L2105m touch screen monitor [21.5"]. It works fine but I find I'm usually a bit further than my arm reaches. I got it for about $300 a few years ago, after Win7 came out, probably have come down a bit but haven't checked. One thing about such a monitor is it usually requires a USB connection to the computer in addition to the data connection. The computer 'talks' to the monitor but needs the USB connection for 'talking back' to the computer, not a big problem but should check to see if the USB cable is also included in the package.
