    Windows 7 cuts my RAM

Hey guys, I hope some1 can help.
I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my PC, and everything is great except for 1 major flaw...
Windows 7 decided I only have 1GB of RAM installed when I actually have 2GB. I know cause I installed it myself. And even CPU-Z still sees it as 2GB. Only Windows 7 doesn't.
I tried changing the RAM from 1 port to the other, and still the same.

    * The RAM is by Kingston, if it matters.
    * In Windows XP, I was able to use all of the 2GB.

    Thanks in advance!

    Maybe it's the onboard GPU?

    No. It can't be.
I tested it by adding 0.5GB RAM, in the 2nd slot, and windows started saying I have 1.5GB.

    Any other thoughts?

your specs state you have integrated graphics... your system shares the main memory with the integrated graphics. but to an unrelated question, how do you have 2gb + .5 gb when the max the board can handle is 2gb? (GA-8VM800PMD-775 - GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Specification)

also, to find out how your ram is allocated, go to task manager>performance tab>click resource monitor.

    So?

    There's still 1GB missing right?

May very well be the Integrated GPU.

    hey, thanks for the response.
As I mentioned earlier, the 0.5GB I just added now to check if it changes the amount of memory that windows say I have.
I usually have just the 2GB.
And as for the graphics taking some of the RAM, I don't think it's the case... It says total physical memory 1GB (or 1.5GB after adding the extra 0.5GB).
After it says the total, it goes on to say where it's allocated.

Ps as I said before, in xp the same memory on same comp worked fine, and it said I had 2GB.

Pss. Or am I wrong, and my motherboard can only handle 2x1GB, and not 1x2GB?

So yes, I'm still missing 1GB, and it's not to the graphics, cause the graphics are getting the RAM from the 1/1.5GB that's left.
And if my motherboard can only handle 2GB, even if some for the graphics, why did adding an extra 0.5GB also changed in windows?
