    Understanding CPU temperature

    Hi guys,

I was converting some videos and saw on my G15 keyboard the video converting processes was using %100 of my AMD Phenom 9750. I downloaded coretemp to monitor the cpu temperature. The AMD website stated that the maximum heat for my cpu is 70 Celsius. When converting videos, according to coretemp, my CPU gets up to 75. Is this actual? it only gets this hot when performing this task, as of right now it is 30 C. Will I be alright or should i find a program that's less CPU intensive?

Converting videos is one of the most CPU intensive activities. My quad core also runs at 100% when I convert. I don't think 75C is critical. They always have a good safety margin. In addition, the Core Temp readings are not that accurate - especially on AMDs.
You can try Format Factory which is an excellent converter - but I would not really worry too much about it.
