    Need recommendation for Mouse

Now, please, before anyone calls me out for not posting in the right section - hear me out. My mouse died...it's a Logitech MX518 wired optical mouse and I am less than adept at navigating with my keyboard. I had to hit the 'Tab' key 8 quadrillion times to make it to this point so I hope everyone is feeling forgiving because I realize I'm probably in the wrong place.
I've never had a Logitech Mouse die on me in such a short span of time so it never even occurred to me that I might need a warranty, so I'm on a very tight mouse budget now.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I've been using a Logi MX-518 since the early 2000's, but have recently found reason to question the craftsmanship of that particular pointing device.
I can only spend approx. $40 USD +/-

Is there something wrong with the cheap mice? The one I am using atm is about £5. Works fine.

Once you have a mouse with forward \ backward buttons you never want another mouse without it.

When I got my Uncle's computer it came with a logitech m25c which is ok. It's cheap but doesn't have programmable buttons. I haven't replaced it let. On my work computer I have a logitech mx 2s which I love. I hate wired mice. It has programmable buttons which I need for work. Oddly enough there is no middle click. You have to tilt the wheel to the right or left and program that to get the same affect. It was hard to get used to that. Prior to that I was using a Microsoft laser mouse (I don't remember the model). The receiver for that kept going out though so I kept having to replace it. The mx 2s is programmable so if the receiver goes it I should be able to replace it if I can find a replacement. It's also bluetooth but that doesn't work on 7. However if you are on a budget that isn't for you because I think it cost me over $40 which was worth it to me. It's replacement the 2s master is $60 on amazon. If you are looking for a gaming mouse I can't help you there.

£5 is about $7. It's still cheap though.
