    5.9 rating for a 10,000rpm drive?

I have a WD Velociraptor 150Gb 10,000 rpm as my system drive and a WD 640Gb 7200 rpm as the secondary. Windows tells me my Disk Data Transfer rating is 5.9.

When I asked my tech guy about this (he built the pc), he said 5.9 is the highest rating he's seen for any drive.

Is this normal? Does anyone else get a higher rating? I'm wondering why one of the fastest drives known to Man would score so low.

    TIA

I believe you need a solid state drive to get a higher score.

    Ahhhh.... I see.

Thanks for the reply. As long as I know it's not a problem at my end.

    Yea it normal.
RAID 0, will give you a bit more ... i want to say somewhere around the 6.2-6.5 range depending on the drives and how many.
Perhaps others know better where spinning raid arrays score

SSDs will exceed 7 as a solo drive (typically 7.2-.7.4ish)

Thats all I get also, I thought for sure there was something wrong about that rating too... Here's my ratings, and I have the WD740ADFD 74GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s, and just for your info....you have the 150gb 10K at 3.0 gb/s and get a 5.9 rating?...I have the 1.5gb/s drive and get the same rating?:
