    Acer Aspire 9810 TV Tuner

This sucker supposedly has a AverMedia M104 Hybrid TV Tuner capable of NTSC, PAL & Secam, analog & digital . I have looked high and low for drivers for this puppy. None will install. It worked before with that abortion they called Windows Vista. But it will not install no way no how with Windows 7. My hand is all cramped up now with all the clicking of the mouse searching for this illusive beast.
Does anybody have tips, clues or i'll even settle for some vodoo magic at this point to get it to work. As you all who have an Acer. There web based tech support has got to be one of the least helpfull places on the internet.
Now here is a real laugh, We are using Trend Internet Anti-Virus. Almost all sites I go to from a Google or Bing search on Acer Aspire 9810 TV Tuner or Acer Aspire TV Joy. Trend reports as Dangerous.

NO LUCK SO FAR. I have tried all the search's on the AVerMedia site. It appears that there is no such thing as a AVerMedia (M104) nor (M115). Listed in any way shape or form on AVerMedia's site. I pulled the bottom off of our Acer Aspire 9810 in the hopes of readily seeing some sort of identification of the TV tuner device. No such luck. I would have to disassemble much further than removing the back to get to the chips of the tuner. After a couple of clicks on the above link it led me to a download of Driver Whiz which is the same as Driver Detective (colors are a little different), BTW my product key for Driver Detective works for Driver Whiz.
Both lead me to a file called VMHybrid_1.38.200_W7_Vista_WLH.exe. Which starts to install but suddenly simply just disappears when the progress bar gets about 90% across. The links from Software Informer re AVerMedia(M104) all lead to AVerMedia's Home page. I have been clicking and clicking now every evening for about 4-5hrs each night going in circles for the last 5 days. One thing I noticed is that apparently I am not the only one out there looking for the elusive TV Tuner files. The files listed on the Acer site do not work and are very early versions 1.xx.
Thanks for trying Derekimo, but no cigar for U.
So if anyone out there succesfully finds the right drivers let us know and post em in this thread.

My next task will be trying to get the BIOS fixed. I have found numerous posts regarding the fact that the Acer Aspire 9810 BIOS doesn't recognize more than 3 gigs of RAM. Sound familiar to anyone.

Did you try to install those drivers in Compatibility Mode to see if that worked?

I tried everything except feeding this sucker a beer.

Now I have it working. This is what you do if you have one of these suckers. Go to the America Acer web site. Meander yourself to the download drivers page. Once there you will notice towards the right just beside the choose language menu. You see where it says Latest, forget that crap, click on All. WTF you say to yourself there is several more TV Tuner files. You'll want TVTuner_AVerMedia_(M115)_4.5.0.9_VistaX86.zip.
Having read the previous post regarding the compatibillity stuff from the orginal Acer Aspire 9810 post I unzipped the package and immediately went to the setup.exe file, gave it a right click, went to properties, Compatibilty and set it to Vista SP2. Closed. Double clicked the setup exe and presto the sucker installed itself as slick as a couple mud wrestlers playing in a rain storm. Went to the Windows Media Centre. Clicked on live TV, it downloaded and installed some stuff. Windows Media Centre asked me my postal code.....it then downloaded the TV guide for my area. Simply amazing.
Acer as far as customer support goes...........you suck.

Now I am as pleased as can be. Windows 7 on this notebook is much faster and a whole lot more stable than Vista was. *The TV Tuner driver is the only software driver on this notebook from Acer. All my extra buttons, eg:Volume controls, brightness, contrast are all working with out any of those unstable Acer Windows Vista programs installed. Praise the Lord and Pass the loot. Hoorah.
