    Canoscan 9900F scanner on Windows 7 x64?

Just got a new computer with W7 x64. I want to try and use my scanner (for film and slides) but there are no W7 64 drivers available.

It is a scanner bought in Japan (and is still here:)) and has Japanese software for the photo application but I have been running it on my old XP machine with English Toolbox and I think the English driver (if the driver distinguishes between languages???) Anyway everything worked on my English XP (32) system.

On my new machine, I thought I would try XP mode so loaded the virtual machine and then XP mode and got it all working. I have forgotten exactly what I did now as I have tried so much but I did have the scanner working in XP mode just with "Toolbox" for document scan( no film scan) but then tried to use the software but it was all gibberish. I had to download the Japanese language IME to read and write Japanese. Did that and all OK.

But somewhere with all the mucking around I made a mistake or something and now nothing works. Uninstalled all software and tried to uninstall the driver but I can't find a driver to uninstall. Actually in the device manager the scanner is not even listed so no driver to scan. Tried reinstalling driver - No. uninstalled XPmode and reinstalled and tried to set it up but after installing the driver it doesn't seem to have been installed. Not there and no device recognised.

Maybe installed something in the wrong order???

So...What to do now. I am getting lost. How do I get a driver to install so XPmode recognises my scanner?

    I don't think I can put a 32bit driver on a W7 64 ...

Do I have to uninstall XPmode again?
Should I deleted the virtual drive and start out again or no need??
Can I install the driver manually? How? (I bit out of my depth here)
    Procedure?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for any help.

Addition - Can I add a 32 bit driver under compatabilty mode or something?
