DVI Monitor problems? Anyone else having this oddity?

I have the system listed in my extended user info.

I also am trying out the 7057 x64 build.

For some reason, I have started getting at completely random times, my monitor going into powersaving mode (even when I think I have turned it into soft-off mode but I am not sure about that) which it seems to do only for a couple seconds until it autorecovers... it does the same when it gets no signal from DVI if the signal resumes fast enough, so Im thinking it may be that... but the oddest thing is two mornings in a row now I have woken up to my monitor being in powersaving mode... this is despite the fact that I NEVER use powersaving mode at all, the first thing I do in any OS install is disable it and screensavers completely. It has nothing to do with lack of activity either as it can flicker into this state for example while typing into this input box. (edit, just did it twice in a row while browsing forums... eek... I think it is getting worse!)

I am using the latest nvidia official windows 7 beta drivers for x64, as well.

The problem does not SEEM to replicate on my install of xp x64, however, but I have not been in xp64 for long since I installed 7 beta.

Is anyone else having any similar issues with win7 or possibly the nvidia beta drivers?

go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options and then change plan settings for the plan your currently using. Changeturn off the display to never.

Did you perform this as well?

    Ayup.
Went right into advanced and tweaked everything to my liking as well.

What I am afraid of is that either my DVI cable is going out or my monitor is going out, but the most confusing thing is it doesn't seem to show these problems when I am in xp x64, and the monitor turns itself ON into low power standby from soft-off mode while I sleep, rather has twice now - and never has before me installing 7057... that is what's creeping me out so much... it seems that a DVI connection (and thus OS) should not have such control over a monitor, but lo and behold it only happens when in win7 x64 7057...

Newp, didn't think I would need to since windows 7 (and also XP) detect what it is and read the information directly from the monitor firmware through the DVI connection, like so:

Does the monitor itself have any power saving options in its own control panel?

*checks again just to make sure* No, not really...

Seriously, this started when I installed win7 x64 7057, it didnt do this with 7000 nor is it doing it with xp x64 on the same hardware... But in 7000 I had MS drivers, not the nvidia betas, and im running a slightly older nvidia driver in xp x64 (not that I have a choice, there is no equivelant beta for xp x64 as the win7 x64 beta)

thank you very much for trying to help me, it is appreciated :)

Where did you get the drivers from? Windows Update or nvidia's site?
