My 2nd hdd is missing after Standby

    Hello,

i have a problem with standby.

When i wake up my pc from standby, my 2nd hdd is missing :-(
The 2nd hdd is missing also in the device manager.

After a restart everything is fine and the hdd is back.

I have installed the latest intel chipset drivers (version 9.1.1.1025)

This is what I have noticed so far:
When the pc is only very briefly in standby, then the problem does not occur and when i wake up my pc from hibernate (and not standby), then the problem does also not occur.

I know no further and I hope you can help me.

The second hdd is a Samsung SpinPoint F2 EcoGreen HD154UI
The first hdd is a Western Digital Caviar Blue WD6400AAKS
The mainboard is a Asus P5Q-PRO

Both harddisks are connected via sata and are configured as ahci drives.

Thanks in advance for your help

hi yTW, and welcome to the forums
Do you have a reason for using AHCI? I suspect it could be it
Take a look on this thread for more info about it: AHCI, can someone explain?

    Hi wallyinnc,
    thanks for your fast answer.
Yes the reason for using AHCI is Native Command Queuing, I want to use it.

But before I used Windows 7 64 bit, I used Windows Vista 64 bit with the same pc (same mainboard, 2 hdds connected via sata and configured as AHCI).
The only difference was that my 2nd hdd was a WD7500AAKS and not a Samsung HD154UI.
In those days standby worked perfectly and I learned to like it.

What I find strange is that when the pc is only very briefly in standby, then everything works.
The problem only occurs if the pc is longer in standby.

    Hello,

if someone has the same problem.
The following fix from Microsoft, fixed the problem for me.
    The thread can be closed.

You receive various Stop error messages in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2 when you try to resume a computer that has a large SATA hard disk
