Hard Disk appears to be failing

Hi, I installed Win7 RTM x64 in October on a brand new Samsung F3 1TB drive and it's been fine since then.. until yesterday, when I got my first BSOD with "ataport.sys" to blame. I then CHKDSK'd my drive and it found no problems. I couldn't find anything on Google with ataport.sys that seemed relevant, so I installed a program to monitor hard disk health (using S.M.A.R.T): HD Tune Pro.

It listed Current Pending Sector Count as "2", which was worrying, since this is an unuseable sector. Well, today I still haven't BSOD since that first one but the sector count is now at "6" (it was 4 this morning). Is this disk going to die? I'm worried.

Edit: It's 7 now.

Edit 2: It's 8 now. Uhh

Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Build 7600

Hi yohan!

Why not try Samsung's "HUTIL" their Hard Disk drive diagnostic utility?

It is designed with the aim of testing a Samsung hard disk drive while it is installed inside a PC, regardless of the status of user's operating system.

You should get a better idea of what, if anything, is wrong with your disk.:)

I've tried using that but it doesn't support F3 drives.

I think I'm going to have to RMA this HDD some time soon..

Hey there guys, about six months ago I started receiving an error every few days on my computer on boot, and it was something along the lines of: 'pxe-rom: Check cable connection!'. To fix it I just used my Windows 7 install CD and it was fine, until whenever it'd happen again. Now, just about...

A BSOD happened around a week ago while re-enabling my ethernet adapter on my laptop. This is the first and only time my computer has blue screened as of now. A previous disk check(yesterday) found bad sectors within my hard drive(might be a sign of a bad hard disk?). Could that have been the...
