Try checking in the registry if the LAN adapter is there. I have not try adding it in the registry but we can try.

See my post on the reg key location.

How can i rename my wireless network connection?

I don't know who you are, but thank you. You have saved my bacon. I've been googling for two hours on how to get my stinking Acer netbook, which I just upgraded to Windows 7, to recognize the LAN card. No ?, no ! in device manager, just no stinking LAN card. And then I pop the battery out for a minute and when I put it back in and boot the card is magically detected and installed. THANK YOU!

Do you have unknown devices listed in Device Manager? If so, one of them may be your NIC, and might need the drivers loaded manually.
