Unable to install 2nd USB Printer - Updated info

    Win7 OS on Dell4550

Have a HP2500L color laser installed on USB001 virtual port and running fine. I cannot add another USB printer (Canon S900) without Win7 deleting the HP or apparently overwriting it's driver. When the hp has been deleted, the Canon S900 printer test is printed on the HP printer but only prints one line of misc. characters on each page.

When I get the S900 installed the icon for the HP disappears from the Devices and printer window and the S900 appears but when selected the print the job goes to the HP printer.

Is it possible to have two usb printers installed in Win 7? If so how is it done?

    Try this:

Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Devices and Printers and right click to select add a printer. I hope this helps.

Unable to install 2nd USB Printer -Further Development

New development..... Had a complete PC freeze. Had to press and hold power button to turn off PC. When I restarted, using the power button and Win7 started it found BOTH printers, checked updates for drivers, installed them both. Both printers now appear in Devices and Printers, but the HP printer has the icon image of the S900 but properties show it as the HP Printer. Both printers print the test page but the HP ONLY prints in B&W! When checking properties of the HP (with S900 image and Name) it show 'Color: No" even though the HP is a Color Laserjet. Any ideas?

I can't believe how simple it was. I change from a DVI monitor cable to a VGA cable and it WORKS! No freezes, no black screens.
