    HP OfficeJet K5400 - won't print

I recently installed Windows 7 RTM. My Company is part of the MS First Wave program. W7 found and installed my HP OfficeJet K5400 automatically. However, when I send a test page or any print job nothing prints. W7 says the print job was sent to the printer successfully, I see the job hit the queue real fast and then disappear. I get no print out.

    Some Details:

-This printer worked fine with Xp Pro
-I had it shared on Xp Pro and W7 RC was able to print to it.
-I was not able to print with W7 even when printer was shared from Xp.
-I have tried the full drivers from HP, but W7 tells me they are not compatible.
-Have not tried Vista Mode yet with the HP drivers.
    -I am running W7 on a Lenovo T61

The device is not responding (nothing prints)
    Check the device setup

    For more information, see
    Troubleshooting tips and resources.
    Check the printhead initialization
When printheads are installed or replaced, the device automatically prints a few
alignment pages to align the printheads. This process takes about 10 minutes. Until
this process is complete, only the automatic alignment pages can be printed.
    Check the device software installation
If the device is turned off when printing, an alert message should appear on your
computer screen; otherwise, the device software might not be installed correctly. To
resolve this, uninstall the software completely, and then reinstall the device software.
    For more information, see

    Uninstall and reinstall the software.

Thats for the info, I will look at the manual shortly. Here is some more info, however:

I uninstalled the printer and installed the full drivers and software from HP's site. I installed them in Vista compatibility mode. The install went fine, but I still can't print. Here is the bizzare part. The HP Software can tell me that my Yellow cartridge is low, can detect when I open the lid of the printer, it can even print a diagnostic page! I just can't print from any other application. I've tried Word, Outlook, SnagIt and even NotePad. Normally at this point I would swap out the cable, but the HP Software is communicating with the printer. This is very odd....

I was able to resolve this myself with a reimage of my laptop. Apparently the encryption software my company uses was affecting the USB ports. I installed the printer first and then encrypted and the printer now works fine.
