Printer Set up in windows 7

I tried to execute a simple printer set up in windows 7: successfully loaded the printer software, drivers etc and set the printer as default in the control panel. Everything looked good but I could not get the thing to print. The error message that I received indicated that the computer could not find the printer. Checked the usb cables, no problem. Any ideas?

Hi freeswami and welcome to Windows 7 Forums

As well as checking your connections, have you ensured that the printer itself is online?

You may have to plug the printer in after you install the software. Is the a 32 bit install, and is the driver a Win 7 driver?

When you go to Devices and Printers and right click and select properties, make sure you notice there are normally 2 options for properties. One is an administrative option. While there, what port is the printer using?
