No probem. I understand that you don't want to damage your case. However, I've had a thought and there is a workaround. It involves using a relay.

I can see exactly how your idea can be implemented. But it involves considerable amount of hardware modification which makes me hesitate to proceed.
I appreciate your trying to help me but if this is the only solution I would rather do without reset switch or unplug the reset cable from the mobo. And if I still want to have the reset functionality, then I would install a reset switch in an empty slot-tab on the rear of the chassis.

That's OK. I rarely, if ever, use the reset switch on my system.

I agree... I used to use reset with XP and Vista... but Win7 doesnt lock up! If it ever did you can shut down by holding most power buttons in for 10+ seconds! Just lose the reset switch if it runs properly disconnected.

I tried the ferrite core but no dice.

I finally got hold of tech support of Cooler Master and he said the I/O panel is defective. A replacement of the I/O panel(where the reset switch, the pwr switch, eSata connector, etc are held) is going to be sent to me. I will post back.

Not that unusual, Antec had a similar problem with the Sonata III when it first came out,

Grounding problem - Antec Sonata III - Confirmed w/cust support - New-System-Build - Homebuilt-Systems

PCQandA.com - Viewing topic #480007 - Concern/Warning regarding Antec Sonata III ESD Reported

that has since been fixed, I know mine doesn't have the problem and never has.

Was one of those things I came across before I bought mine, and also saw that it had been fixed.

Also found this,

Please help wierd restart issue! - General-Homebuilt - Homebuilt-Systems

and it sure looks like the same problem that churin is having.

Every time my wife or I get up from our computers it makes the disconnected sound as we just unplugged headphones or something from the USB ports. It is almost as if the computer acknowledges us leaving the computer. Does anyone have an idea what is causing this?

DIR-655 reboots
Have been fighting a DIR-655 that would routinely reboot, really frustrating. Found a cure that worked for us. Go to Advanced and then QOS engine, uncheck the automatic uplink speed. You may have to play with your uplink speed, I currently have mine set to the highest value with no problems....
