Is There a Massive Difference Between..................

The Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD, and the 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330, for the Dell Inspiron 1545?

And I mean not when I'm watching movies, or using photoshop, or playing games, as I don't use my laptop for those...well at least, not blu-ray movies. I watch DVDs only on this thing.

I'm talking about just Windows 7 itself...the file icons, the taskbar, chat windows, and just the operating system in general. Reason I'm asking is, I have Vista Home Premium now and I have the basic, integrated graphics solution, and I just can't imagine how it would look any better if I had chosen the radeon before, which is why I am asking, is the difference only noticeable ONCE you start viewing hi-def content like blu-ray movies?

Or is the difference between the two options make EVERY SINGLE THING look obvioiusly worse, or obviously better, on your monitor?

I would think that the ony real difference would be in the 3d capabilities.

So games would be crap on the intel and workable on the ati. If you are getting decent prformance in full aero glass mode (trnasparent borders etc) then no it would not look any diferent at all witht eh ati. But try to fire up some Oblivion or something and...

Videos would look better. Intel HD can't play Blu-Ray properly with proper quality. The ATI would massacre it. As for desktop, they'd be the same but 7 would always prefer the dedicated card.

Thanks. I'm not using my lappy for gaming.

So, in this case, would you say the 360's graphics card is higher than the intel one?

How would just windows 7 look better? The start up screen, the file icons...how will it make the "operating system" look better? I guess you mean the operating system icons, windows (that you maximize and minimize) etc.

Also, I have Vista Home Premium on this computer with the Intel...would you say VISTA PREMIUM would prefer the ATI as much as 7 does (keeping in mind lowest version of 7 is premium)? Is Vista Premium and 7 Premium almost the same in what graphics card they prefer?

Are you trying to choose before buying from the two different models of the Dell Inspiron 1545? Or are you already own it?

One with Intel HD Card and the other one with Ati Card?

I think i'll check whenever the Ati card one have support for mobile Intel 4 series express chipset family. If they are both installed on the machine.

In that case i would prefer the Ati card, if your dvd doesn't support blue ray disc.

I meant that a dedicated card with its own memory allocation will work better with Aero's effects then a card that shares main memory i.e. Intel.
