Keyboard not registering every keystroke

Hello all,

I restored my system back to the "factory" settings, including the Protector Suite QL fingerprint ID software, and then did a post here. (It was relevant, don't worry.) During the post, it was losing keystrokes, and felt generally less responsive, so I uninstalled the Protector Suite QL software, and, lo and behold, my keyboard is now resoundlingly fast at picking up my keystrokes. I can just feel it as I am posting this. So, to Richard (richc46), I am letting you know that it probably WAS the software for fingerprint recognition, which I have now removed. Just for kicks, however, I am going to reinstall the upgraded version I have. (I really like the fingerprint functionality!) Then I will post again and let you know if that was the problem, or not, and it was just a "fluke" of some other combination of factors.

Thanks for all your help Richard, and stand by for the outcome. I did find in the forums by searching for this post, a poster who identified how to change the keyboard repeat and keystroke display rates in the registry. If you search, you can find it. I would post it here, but I printed it to an XPS file, and this forum does not let me upload XPS files for some reason.

I have reinstalled Protector Suite on my laptop, which is the fingerprint reader application program. However, I do not detect much of a lag, at least I am not losing keystrokes. There may be a slight, perceptable lag, but that may just be from being on a Webform, in general...

So, I will keep the Protector Suite, and see how it goes. If it goes back to being as bad as it was, I will suspect this as my main cause and go back to my Macrium created images that were done before this install.

CommonTater - I am so sorry that I forgot to mention you in the previous replies, but this is for you and richc46. I am now running with the Protector Suite 2009.2 version, and as I type posts on this Website/forum, it does not seem to be losing my keystrokes as it was before. It must have just been some combination of something. My only new suspicion is Mozy Home Backup because I have been trying to run that for days with it not connecting to the server, and it only today is running correctly. Perhaps, its problem was the Windows problem. Or perhaps it was the problem because it was having problems. Who knows? I knew it would be something like this, where it never gets figured out what caused the problem, but it just gets fixed. That is typical of Windows, and computers in general...

I'm glad to hear you've found a fix for your problem... and you are right, we almost never know exactly what caused the problems. Give me the good old days when you could swap a blown resistor and know exactly what you fixed and why.
