can u help me with your advices about this rig?

Hi Everybody...

I'm looking to buy a new desktop for myself and I need help in deciding what would be the best rig for the kind of work I'll be doing. The main purpose I would use this PC for would be movies, music, internet and sometimes games. Also I want to use this pc for long time minimum 5 years without performance problem. Please also check whether the parts I've chosen are compatible with each other.

Please i need your comments and advices about this system...

what kind of budget do you have? i would avoid the i3/i5/i7 and go for the i7's on the 1366 socket. motherboards have far more features, and the i9's when they come out will be on the 1366 socket.

Hi there :)

The i3 540 is basically the new and improved Core2Duo. This is basically the latest machine in the dual core setup. It has 2 cores and 4 threads meaning it can fabricate a quad core, but it isn't a real quad core. If you're looking to upgrade yourself to a point of not requiring anything for at least the next 5 years, I have to say....you should really think about going with a true Quad core.

At the end of the day, this is most certainly a decent machine, but the i3's are at the bottom of the spectrum in Intel's new line of processors. I would also recommend at least 4GB of RAM.

Are you planning to build this machine yourself?

It is a little expensive for me to buy i5 or i7 and 1366 socket. this system is aprox 1000 USD in my country but it can change in other countries... because i didnt mentioned about my budget.
Whats your advice about buying i3 540 series or Q8400 core 2 quad 2.66 ghz which do you prefer?
my second question is about my graphic card... i dont know about it much? du u have an advice any other asus models with same price....
Which is better choose? 128bit/1024 Mb or 256 bit/512MB

no matter what you go for even with these specs you are going to want at least a 550 psu. that 420 is pushing it.

whats the main reason while we choosing the psu type 420 or 550 or 350

420 watts is very low for a computer today, it. you want at least 500 or above. i recommend no less than 550.
