    External 3.5" HDD Problems

I just built a new computer and installed Windows 7 Professional 64bit onto it.

Before this I was using a laptop with Windows 7 on it as well. When I was finished building my new computer, I decided to start transferring my files over. The network would be way too slow, so what I've done is used and IDE-USB adapter that I bought (This works on 3.5in HDD's as well.) to hook the HDD from my laptop into a USB port on my computer.

I can view files fine, and transfer a great deal, but when I try to transfer my music in particular, all of the sudden windows can't find the files. It says they've been moved or something. I can see the files when I browse the drive at this point, but can't play any of the music or move anything either.

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

    Any help is appreciated

i think I figured out my problem. The HDD I was trying to transfer from had a copy of windows running on it, and was set as the "master". I was able to transfer files to an old HDD that I had laying around and get them onto my new computer.

Thank you for your assistance :)
