Battery Not charging even though windows says it is..

ok well ive had this red cross icon over my battery for the last few months since i upgrade to windows 7 which i see a lot of people have had this problem too. but today my battery has stoped charging even though windows is telling me its charging.. if i take the power cord out it turns off instantly. can anyone else and has anyone had this problem.

i have a Dell Inspiron 1501 with windows 7 installed.

thanks for that pal but could really help me.. and i dont see why it could be my battery which is died.. all off these problems have come since ive upgraded to windows 7

Sorry I could not be of any more help, indeed many folk have complained about erroneous battery life with Windows 7. Another kind member posted this a few days ago. Be forewarned - it's a long and detailed read.
