2.36GB RAM used?

    2.36GB RAM used?


    Hi, for some reason, whenever I extract a file with winrar, my RAM useage goes to 2.36GB, but in processes it doesnt add up to 2.36GB with show all processes ticked, can anyone explain to me whats going on?

    Yeah, its wierd, because I took a screenshot and worked it out to be just under 300meg

    I suspect that this is just workspace that winrar assigns. It should disappear when winrar is done. Watch it in Resource Monitor > Memory tab.

    Its not gone, ive gone up to 2.54GB now and WinRAR has finished :/

    EDIT: what is svchost? Its taking up 130+kb and I have 11 of them in resource monitor

    svchost is the service .exe for the .dlls. It can be anything. Analyse them with Process Explorer. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb896653.aspx

    According to Microsoft: “svchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that run from dynamic-link libraries”.
