Please help...I'm loosing it

Hello everybody !

I finally decided to post my thread on this forum as I spent a lot of time surfing the internet for a solution for my problem and did not find one.

It's like this : I bought yesterday a Logitech webcam model c250.I got home , installed it and everything was working perfectly.

I got up this morning and saw this problem that came out from nowhere ! The webcam isn't recognized by Windows and in device manager in "serial bus controllers" I have an "unknown device" line which is supposed to be the webcam.

I tried re-installing it and update drivers ten million times and it does no good.I've read that many people with a similar issue had turned off the PC , unplugged the source cable , waited for a few minutes and plug it back in , turned on the PC and problem was solved...well , it did not work for me.

I really tried everything and I'm out of ideas . Someone please help me out..

(I'm running win 7 64bit.)

Welcome!

Could it be your webcam is fried? Try testing it in another machine.

What driver did you use?

If it wasn't a win 7 driver (and it probably wasnt) it needs to be installed in compatibility mode. To do that right click the installer>properties>compatibility>check the correct OS

Let us know if you need help

-it can't be fried , i bought it yesterday.

-it's compatible.I used the driver which came within the webcam package , on the CD.It's the latest version also ( v1.1 )

The thing is , when I run the CD and after accepting the typical conditions before installing , the second step tells me to plug my webcam in the USB port and wait for detection.I plug it ( tried all ports ) and windows doesn't recognize it , instead it tells me that device malfunctioned...and so I'm back from where I started.

What to do ?

( Thanks for reply )

Any electronic device can fail for no reason, and new items are no exception.

Perhaps the webcam is defective, and you can return it and get a refund.

I know , I know , but as I said a saw that a lot of people have had an issue similar to mine so I really doubt that it's fried. In any case , if it would have get fried it wouldn't work at all ( I mean when i plug it windows makes the typical "new device" sound and observes it -although doesn't recognize it- ) . So what is it there to try ?

Yes , I did check the drivers on Logitech's website . It's the same version I have on my CD.

Do you have another machine you could test the webcam in? That would tell us forsure whether the cam is fried or not.
