    Not at all, i had to remove it and operate with 2GB ram. The specs on the ram stick i have are:

    2GB PC2-5300 667MHz DDR2 Desktop DIMM

    You think this kind of ram is incompatible with my motherboard?
    In the specs shown on Gigabytes website, you should be able to use that ram. But what of the other stick? What is its rating?

    I went from 3 gigs of RAM to 6, and started having a lot of crashes and lockups. It turned out I needed a mobo BIOS upgrade to handle the extra RAM. Dunno if this is your problem, but it might be an angle to consider. Good luck...

    That sure sounds like bad ram to me... Either the new stick is bad or they are so seriously mismatched as to be incompatable...

    When installing memory I *always* buy Kingston and *always* in matched pairs.

    Shady313,

    I am running a Gigabyte MB (Intel processor) on my system. I remember I had some issues with the default voltage for the Ram. It ran at 1.8V and my ram asked for 2.1V. Once I made an adjustment to the BIOS settings, I was up and running.

    BEFORE you try anything like this MAKE SURE of the Voltage requirements of your RAM (I took a quick look at your link, but didn't see anything listed).
