    Is my hard drive broken ?


    after a dissaterous system image install yesterday my hdd showed that i had 43Gb left ,i should have had 73. eventually i got fed up paricularly after another image install refused to boot my computer infact the pc wouldnt even repair itself. in the end i've clean installed and now my 224 Gb hdd shows 53Gb WTF. any advice is most welcome

    Does the drive report the correct size in the BIOS?

    It does sound almost like a hard drive problem. Try downloading one of these tools and doing a scan: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.

    Check your drives. You may have done a clean install, but other drives may remain. They may even have your diastorous system image.

    Go to my computer>left click and look at the drives.

    If nothing surprising shows, you may want to look for hidden folders etc.

    If nothing shows, you may want to go to the HD website and test your drive.

    Ok after several hours of running chkdsk it would appear to be fine however my windows old file is 128 Gb and im not sure if i need it UHHH ! yep im still a noob
