my pc6400 ram is running at 400mhz!??

i have 3gb of pc6400 ram in my pc which if im correct should run at 800mhz but when i check threw speccy it says my ram is at 400mhz. 400mhz is what pc3200 should run not 6400. do u think my ram is underclocked? what should i do to fix this problem.

Some times when there is no load on a cpu it will clock down the ram for battery and heat. You need to put some load on it to find if it is indeed running at 6400. There are specific memory tests to stresss the ram to its fullest. One is prime 95 and one is memtestx86. Prime 95 is run from within the OS memtest burned to cd and booted from

    Good Luck

That is because DDR2 is Doubled Data Rate, which means your actual speed would be "400mhz" which gets doubled to 800mhz effective. So there is nothing wrong.

Certainly can check the bios and the ram. Might want to try a different tool to measure the memory.

I go with what kurahk7 says.
    Snip of my ram: 1066 ram running at 800MHz, 400MHz x 2
