    Flash drive format ??

I recently picked up a 128 GB flash drive, I've had some issues with it reading on my system. The flash drive is in exFat format, and I've looked for a program to convert it to FAT32. Can anyone tell me if the format is the issue that is causing my computer not to read the flash drive? Any help is much appreciated!

    Thanks

    Wow. 128GB is huge.
I have a 32GB and it gives me trouble all the time.
I heard from a friend one time that the high capacity drives actually use compression to fit extremely large amounts of data. I think that's what mine's doing, because I have not yet been able to reliably format it.
    Mine's basically junk.
I wouldn't recommend buy a flash drive larger than 4GB - or if you do make sure its from a name brand manufacturer that knows how to correctly design flash drives.

For speed and reliability reasons flash drives should be formatted in Fat32, not NTFS. However, if that is an SSD and not a traditional stick, I would format it in NTFS. But then there is more to it like alignment, etc.

Maybe it's causing by file system format.
does your computer detect your thumb drive as a new drive ?
windows can format your thumb drive either FAT or NTFS format.

When I tried to format the flash drive, it only gives me the option of NTFS or exFAT? I think I'd be best to format to FAT32, but I'm not sure how to do that?

    Thanks again

    Format

You cannot format a volume larger than 32 gigabytes (GB) in size using the FAT32 file system . Windows XP can mount and support FAT32 volumes larger than 32 GB (subject to the other limits), but you cannot create a FAT32 volume larger than 32 GB by using the Format tool during Setup. If you need to format a volume that is larger than 32 GB, use the NTFS file system to format it. Another option is to start from a Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) Startup disk and use the Format tool included on the disk.
