win 7 doesn't read microsoft wireless comfort keyboard

Since installation of WIN 7, I have a problem with the reading of my Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1.0A. I need to restart 3-4 times in order to get connected. I have unistalled and re-installed the original Microsoft driver for win7 64 bit but the problem persists.
    The mouse works fine.
Does anyone have a suggestion please?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi NKS,

Does this thread describe the same problem you are having? Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1.0A not recognized by new Vista Home premium

When you say you've uninstalled and reinstalled the original Microsoft driver, do you mean:
You uninstalled the existing driver and let Windows 7 find the right driver on its own, via the web?
Or, you installed the drivers that came with the keyboard (on the CD) over the existing drivers?

    Cheers,

    Hi Walker,

I have downloaded the driver that works with WIN7 from Microsoft official site.
The problem is quite serious. For example, now i have restared the PC 6 times in order to read the keyboard.
    Signal quality seems good.
Any problem may be with the USB Ports or Drivers? They were installed automatically with the OS.

    Thanks anyway

    Hi again,

I have read the posted link but it doesn't address to the same problem.
As I have stated in my previous reply, the problem has to do with reading of the keyboard once I start up my pc. If it doesn't manage to read it at star up, i reboot several times until it manages to do so. Once read, it works fine.
The drivers were downloaded from Microsoft's site. I tried unistalling and reinstalling and then searched for any updates, but the reply was that I am using the latest version.
I am wondering whether there is a problem with the usb drivers, that were installed simultaneously with the WIN7.

Thanks any way for your time and effort placed to assist me.

    Hi NKS,

You can probably update the USB drivers just like any other kind, I'd try that next. If that's not it, then I have to conclude it's an issue with the keyboard itself. That would explain why your computer recognizes it sometimes, but not other times. If it was simply a driver issue, I would not expect the computer to recognize it at all.

    Cheers,
