Windows 7: Mouse and Keyboard do not respond.

Mouse and Keyboard do not respond.

So, I awoke this morning and as usual, crawled to my computer. I booted up, everything seemed fine. That is, until I reached the login screen. My keyboard and mouse do not respond, and act as if they are not connected at all. I have tried a number of different keyboards and mice (mouses? Pluralization is hard) around the house. None have worked. It's clearly not a device issue, so I'm at a loss. I'm running 7(duh) on a HP Pavillion p6267. I'm about as green as they come, so don't be afraid to state the obvious. Thanks in advance.

Windows 7 Profesional x86, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

Hi, try booting into safe mode (assuming your keyboard works at this stage, if not skip straight to the next instruction) and see if your mouse and keyboard work; do a system resore if they do and then try booting back into Windows normally.

Turn on your PC and press F8 (assuming your PC is recieving inputs from your keyboard Before Windows starts) as soon as anything appears on screen, this should get you into the BIOS. From here look for anything to do with USB or PS/2 ports and make sure they are enabled.

Please post back with any results.

Oli, your system restore method worked like a charm. Which is odd, considering I attempted a system restore to no satisfying results before I posted. Anyway, thank you for your support!
