With regards to USB 3.0...the spec calls for 4.8Gbps. With overhead, they say it will reasonably run at 3.2Gbps or around 400MB/s....which again is faster than any drive including SSD can dish out. |

But I didn't understand what I was reading. Just for grins ... I've compared my HDD in an external (USB 2.0 and eSATA) and connected directly via SATA ... With different systems in the same computer. Looks like USB 3.0 is about the same as SATA 3Gb/s .. If anyone is interested ![]() |

That's because the bottleneck is the drive itself. Both SATA 3.0Gbps and USB 3.0 are significantly faster than your hard drive. Thus, I would expect the tests to show the same thing as it's really the hard drive that is now being tested.

I figured that .. I'm thinking about trying a new HDD .. May order one this week ..
Then I can compare it to my Others I've been looking for an enclosure that will take a SATA 6Gb/s HD and output USB 3.0. Then I might go shopping for a new Mobo and Processor .. But the HDD will probably still be the Bottleneck. What I was reading about the OS System had something to do with sector size and the way the files are managed in the OS. I'm thinking it's a little early to get excited about all this ... It'll probably all be obsolete soon anyway. My current computer is faster than I am anyway ![]() |

I'm in Australia so even if they ship here at all, freight will be expensive. I have organised a great deal with a local supplier. And absolutely I will post benchmarks

For right now .. I was interested to see what performance improvement I'd get with the twice sized cache and dual processors running @ SATA 3Gb/s .. as compared to This One
My main computer won't take the card. |
