How do I change the webcam sound from mic to system ?

Hi, I have bought my first webcam the other day for broadcasting music on blogtv.com

I have put my headphone over the built in microphone of the webcam, but the sound quality sounds poor.
Because the mic is rather sensitive (even after setting it to low), the environmental noise is disturbing non stop as well.

Now I thought it must be possible to input the system sound (from Windows Media Player) instead, so I have disabled the mic in the sound properties, but how do I get the system sound to the webcam ?

    Thanks

Not sure whether that will work. I am currently not on my laptop, so I cannot try it out. But right click on the speaker icon next to the clock > recording devices > set the "Stereo Mix" ( or whethever it is called on your system) to Default (right click on it).

Hi, thanks for your help !

Ok, that is wired ... I right clicked on the loudspeaker icon on the bottom right ►

    ... and selected Recording devices.

At the Sound Properties / Recording tab I disabled the Desktop Microphone (top) and enabled Stereo Mix (bottom) ►

By the way, if I open the Stereo Mix Properties / Listen tab and tick the box Listen to this device

... I can hear an echo over my headphone and some high pitch sound that varies in volume and becomes rather annoying.

Then I went to the Levels tab and changed the Stereo Mix Level

... when it's been set to zero, the echo disappears completely !
And the more I pull the lever to the right, the stronger the echo becomes.

What is the Stereo Mixer good for I wonder ? What does it do ?

The strange thing is that the application that came with the webcam, does not recognize a webcam to be connected to the PC anymore.

    • However, if I enable the built in mic and disable Stereo Mix, then re-start the webcam application, everyhthing works again.

    • Then I disabled the built in mic and enabled Stereo Mix WHILE THE APPLICATION WAS ACTIVE, resulting in the webcam to input the system sound !

    • But as soon as I closed down the application and re-open it again, same error as above ... no camera connected.

I just don't get, what Windows is mixing up here.

The Stereo Mixer allows you to record whatever is coming through your speakers (system sounds, website audio, music player).

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish. It sounds like you want 2 inputs, Webcam video and Stereo Mixer audio to output to (something -website?)?

I don't know what on-board sound you have, but my Realtek has an advanced option to"Separate all input jacks as independent devices". You may need to activate that to accomplish your goal.
