    ACPI 2.0 Question

    Hi all,

I just read on another forum about o/clocking Core i7 CPU's that it is recommeded to turn ACPI 2.0 on as it stops the multiplier jumping around. However further research only served to confuse.

I installed Win 7 Pro 64 bit with this turned off in the Bios (the default on my Asus P6T M/board). Is there any point turning it on now? If so, what would be the benefits. Would there be potential negatives?

    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the link stormy13.

I did read something similar on another site. What confuses me is that they all seem to say that if this is "switch" is changed, window will not boot. I changed from Disable to Enable in my BIOS and Window 7 Pro 64 booted perfectly, no error messages.

Also, these sites say that regardless of the setting in the BIOS, Windows will only use this if the switch was Enabled when the OS was installed. If it was Disabled, then one would need to Enable the BIOS setting first and then re-install Windows to get it to work!

Most of this info on the web is pre-Win 7 though. Asus MB manual has not detail on this either.

Guess I am going to switch it back to Disabled (default setting) again then.
