Yeah, I am very impressed with how clean that Antec P182 is staying. I have 3 of the Antec 300 cases in some test machines at work and they do a pretty solid job of filtering as well. It's got a very large air filter directly in the front that account for about 70% of the height of the mid tower case. However, this case has a side vent that does seem to pull in some dust.
My other 2 desktops at home are running Antec Sonata II's and they have stayed extremely clean inside. My server, and AMD Sempron 2800+ has been running for 3 years straight and is very clean inside.
Unsure really but my new HP laptop is indeed AMD and I'm happy with it .
AMD is clearly the best bang for the buck at the moment. Just compare these
Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 Yorkfield 2.5GHz 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Newegg.com - AMD Athlon II X4 620 Propus 2.6GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Processor
Price difference between these are $50! I would go with AMD for my new machine, if i didnt already have the Intel board in it
Yes but the core 2 quad would surely out perform the amd. I agree that amd is the better buy for the money ( i use amd ) , but if you want a top of the line product intel is the only way to go.
I feel the same way with ati and nvidia.
The new Thuban core AMD processors just came out, you get comparable i5 performance with them. You should read some reviews.
Well, if you compare the benchmarks on these CPU's from a website such as this (PassMark Software - CPU Benchmarks - List of Benchmarked CPUs), you will see the following scores
Intel Q8300 at 2.5Ghz: 3563. Ranks at 73
AMD Athlon II X4 620 Propus at 2.6Ghz: 3123. Ranks at 100
As far as bang for the buck goes, the Q8300 is $148.99 at NewEgg with Free Shipping, while the AMD Athln II X4 620 is $97.99 with Free Shipping. So the price difference is exactly $51.
I guess many of you don't remember the old days when the price difference was HUGE between the two. It used to be that the Intel chip was $400 while the AMD chip was $175. This was substantial and would be worth a small decrease in performance.
However, for me, the performance difference between these 2 chips is worth $51. And honestly, compared to the complete price of my system...$51 amounts to about 3.5% of my entire system. That's about the price of a nice keyboard, nice mouse, 1 new game, etc. Put another way, if I am going to invest in a modular power supply, an SSD drive for my OS, a $300+ video card, a super nice cooler for my CPU....why would I skimp on my processor for a savings of $51???
Obviously, if my goal was only to build for the lowest possible dollar, saving the $51 might be a deciding factor. But then I would be using a cheap case, a cheap power supply and performance would not be a decision criteria. However, when it comes to my computer, performance plays a key role.
