Using SATA II and SATA III

I need new hard drives for my server.

NewEgg has 2TB SATA III drives cheaper than SATA II.

If I hook up the SATA III drives using SATA II connections, will I lose anything?

I know they won't run at III speeds, I just want to be sure they'll work.

    Am I missing anything?

    Thanks for any help.

On some systems you will get a disc not found error. The system looks at the HD and reduces the speed to match SATA II. On some systems this does not happen. However the HD should have an option strap to tell it to run at SATA II speed and then it will work fine. The options should be on the HD label.
