    Upgrade CPU

    Hi there,

I was on a Quad Core however today I upgraded my Mobo and CPU to an X6 however Windows is not detecting the 6 cores. I have checked the BIOS and all 6 cores are activated. Will I need to do a fresh install?

Also the fan speed is annoying it keeps going up and down :/

You probably will need to do a fresh install since you have a new motherboard. Sounds like your hardware is working to me if you're seeing it in the bios. Gratz on a very sweet processor! :)

If you have substantially changed the hardware in your system, I would recommend that you perform a clean install. Changing the CPU on its own wouldn't fall into that category, but changing the motherboard certainly does.

Also, on some fans the speed will fluctuate from fast (using processes) to slow (idle) :)
