Anyone else frustrated with their SSD performance?
My first SSD was a Kingston SSDNow V-Series (snv125-s2bn/128GB) for my laptop to replace a Hitachi 500GB 7200rpm HD. I was not impressed by the speed as it did not seem enough improvement to justify the high cost.
I have recently purchased the Intel X25-M SSD (SSDSA2M080G2XXX) and was extremely happy the first week, the speed improvement was huge. After time it has slowed tremendously according to the benchmarks I run periodically. I will admit that I have reinstalled (should have cloned the drive) Windows 7 a few times and ran without any of the recommended tweaks for SSD during a period of about 2 weeks. I tried a low level format, erased the SSD with Acronis Secure DriveCleanser (took 6 hours) and I recently updated to the newest firmware, but no immediate difference.
Now I see some articles being posted from others noticing decreased speeds over a short time, but Intel so far has denied these results in those articles because they can not replicate the problem.
I am just getting frustrated with SSD technology, but the most frustrating part is I don't know if I am doing something wrong or not. Anyone else frustrated?
