Before you clone your system on it, make sure you align it. Here are the commands with CMD:

1 once the elevated cmd window is open type diskpart
2 list disk
3 select disk X with X being the number given for your ssd
4 clean
this destroys all partition/volume data on the disk.
5 create partition primary align 64
6 active
7 exit

If I can get ~~ two years .. I'll be happy.
I expect the price to go down and speed to go up by then.
SATA III and USB 3.0 should be widely available by then.

Currently, It takes me about 6 seconds to ship an image to Photoshop CS5,
Have it load, display the image and be ready for editing.

It will be nice if PS and some other heavy apps snap to life .. (Instantly ??) ...
But that's an expensive price to pay to save a few seconds, It better last a couple years.

I hope I don't have to chalk this up to a learning experience.

Should be here Monday .. Then SSD 101 starts.

I've never chatted with an SSD owner who had buyers remorse for buying the drive. Most regrets are that they waited too long.

Personally, I don't find my SSD to be indispensible like so many others. I'm quite comfortable still using my standard mechanical hard drives at work...but there is no doubt that my home computer is faster, quieter and has fewer case vibrations because of my SSD.

My free shipping with NewEgg has never taken longer than 3 days. And I have purchased their quite a number of times. (20 to 30 separate orders).

Same here .. But this is the first time the route as been DHL >> USPS.
But I usually think too long .. and order so that the weekend gets in the way of 3 days.

I also ordered This Mouse pad ..
And the free shipping + $1.99 for the mouse pad added up to over $6.

So, I ordered the mouse pad separately to get the free shipping + $1.99 ..
UPS tracking says the mouse pad will be here tomorrow.
