You should probably contact Lenovo's tech support with your question; however, as I read it, you are stuck with a maximum of a pair of 1GB SODIMMs -- 2GB total memory.

The mere fact that larger SODIMMs exist doesn't mean that your laptop's motherboard can address the memory on them.

Edited to add: Have you tried it without the 512MB module? Using only the 2GB module? That might work. Then, again, it might not. Only way to tell is to try it.

Go to edge and find your exact model.

Computer Memory Upgrades - Find 100% Compatible RAM Memory Upgrades

At the bottom of the page it will tell you what the laptop will support.

For instance my T60p will only support 3gb, I have 2 1gb in mine and it works fine.
