    Whats up with Midi?

I've jumped from xp to Vista and Windows 7 Ultimate(dual boot) on my new PC. Can't get drivers to install and supposedly the driver is native to the OS now. I updated my vista the midi will not install and my win 7 build 7100 is not having any luck as well.

Midi functions here just fine on 7100.
It has worked through all versions of Windows 7.
What kind of DAW/Midi hardware are you running?

If you are running a pro/semi pro setup I would certainly recommend a FRESH 7100 install.

I am running SONAR 8 Producer Edition with an Akai MPK49 with no hiccups...
My Delta 192 requires me to install Vista drivers in Vista mode.
Drivers for my Akai MPK49 are installed just by plugging it in.(USB)
You usually have to install drivers for your gear still no matter what your os but Win 7 does a good job of recognizing most stuff if it is USB.

Give us more info as far as your gear goes and we can help a bit better.

My Windows build 7100(7077) is a fresh install. My keyboard is the Oxygen 8 (newer model) from M-audio. I can get the OS to recognize the keyboard when I install the driver in xp compatibility mode, but not sure if it should appear as HID. I guess its not bcuz reason won't pick up the keyboard.

    Thanks for the quick response.

For people having problems with M-Audio MIDI devices and there is info on the M-Audio site regarding certain issues of compatibility with Intel chip based computers.

Typical case being your software recognizes the device and the MIDI device is shown under the device manager yet the software will not respond to and input from the controller.
I have had this issue with both a O2 or also known as Keyrig 25 and the Triggerfinger. It was very frustrating and I almost blamed Windows 7 but after some research I realized many people had the same problem, mostly Intel based macs.

The official solution stated from M-Audio is to just use a usb hub. I dug out a small unpowered 4 port usb hub I had and so far so good. All of my programs now respond just as they should.
